How the Mentoring Program works

In terms of finding suitable mentors for mentees, the Mentoring Program works similarly to the AIESEC Exchange program. AIESEC Alumni apply as mentors and current AIESEC members apply as mentees. Then, a mentor and a mentee will be matched in a matching process, looking above all at the mentee’s needs and goals and the mentor’s professional background and experience.

Once matches are found, mentors and mentees are asked to meet at least once a month (or even more if both parties are able and willing to do so) to discuss matters of their interest and to work on the development of the mentee’s personal and professional goals.

It is suggested that the meetings happen in regular intervals – i.e. once a month. In total, mentor and mentees are expected to be available for about five hours per month.

There is no exact recommendation to the duration of mentorship relations. One mentoring phase lasts for six months which can be already very effective and valuable, however some mentorship relationships can even exist for a few years.

Mentorship meetings between the mentor and mentee are to take place in locations agreed on by the participants. It can happen either in a public place or in a causal setting such as a café, or in a more formal area such as the mentor’s office.
