Paul Schuster, 23, Vienna - I am an AIESECer
"I was leading a project team with 13 people from nine different countries.
I got to know different cultures, behaviors and attitudes, but especially I got to know myself. I reached my limits and pushed myself further."
I joined AIESEC in October 2009, because I wanted to do an internship abroad. After working in the Talent Management team for one semester I finally went to Mauritius in February. Before that I never really thought about a possible future in AIESEC. And I was always comfortable with taking leadership responsibilities in school and university. But then when I took over the position as team captain for all 14 interns in Mauritius I realized two things: - Where my limits concerning leadership skills are. - And what AIESEC is offering me to improve them. The next logical step after my return for me was to run for the position as Local Committee Vice President Talent Management. I am now in the Executive Board for a few months and I can tell you one thing: In this time I learned way more about leadership than I could have ever learned in university classes.
